Climate Survey Open for Families In March, Weston Public Schools will once again administer our School and Community Climate Surveys using Panorama Education. The surveys opened on Monday, March 9 and remain available through Friday, April 3. Please click School Climate Survey to answer questions regarding our school climate. If you have more than one child in Weston Public Schools, you will receive a survey for each child. Please note that the survey is completely anonymous. In addition to family feedback, students in grades 3 and above and staff members will also complete Panorama climate surveys. Hurlbutt students in grades 1 and 2 will complete a developmentally appropriate survey designed to get their feedback on school climate, safety and sense of belonging. We truly value hearing from our families. Your responses help us reflect on our programs and ensure that our schools continue to be places where students feel physically, socially, and emotionally safe, supported, and engaged. We created a brief video linked here to learn more about the survey process School Climate Video Tips for completing the survey include: reflecting on the school year and patterns of experiences is helpful. It is also helpful to note that “neutral” responses to questions are reflected as unfavorable responses in our survey. Thank you for your continued partnership and for helping us strengthen our school community. Second Grade Testing Reminder Our second grade students completed the NNAT3 this winter and we are preparing for the administration of the OLSAT. The practice tests and assessment will be completed by the end of March. You will recall that on January 12, all second (and fifth grade) families received an email from Dr. Tina Henckel, Assistant Superintendent. Here are some highlights from that email. As part of Weston’s commitment to meeting the needs of all learners, students in Grades 2 and 5, as well as new students to the district in Grades 3 through 8, will participate in the OLSAT (Otis-Lennon School Ability Test) and the NNAT3 (Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test, Third Edition) this winter. These assessments serve as Weston’s universal screening tools to help identify gifted and talented learners and to better understand each student’s learning profile and strengths. Once testing is complete, results will be shared with families through Profile+, located in PowerSchool and my weekly email will highlight those results when they are available to families which will be later this spring.
