Week of March 22
Dear Families and Staff,
Last week our all school assembly included reinforcement of one of our social emotional learning lessons of being your “best self.” This concept encourages children and adults to reflect on and visualize what makes them unique, identifying the qualities they want others to see and those they can take pride in. Each student created a “best selfie portrait” which is included in our all school bulletin board. You can connect this language to life outside of school by praising them for being their best self when they are demonstrating kindness or responsibility. We are grateful to Mrs. Grosso, our PBIS team leader, and her team for organizing this activity and assembly.
Family Conferences A Success
We appreciate our families for making the time to attend their teacher conferences this week. We also know the changes in school schedule result in family flexibility and we are thankful for your continued support.

Hurlbutt students in grades 1 and 2 will complete a developmentally appropriate survey designed to get their feedback on school climate, safety and sense of belonging.
Second Grade Testing Reminder
Over the next week and a half we will be completing our second grade OLSAT assessments. Once testing is complete, results will be shared with families through Profile+, located in PowerSchool. My weekly email will highlight when they are available to families which will be later this spring. These assessments, along with the NNAT, serve as Weston’s universal screening tools to help identify gifted and talented learners and to better understand each student’s learning profile and strengths.
