You can register an incoming kindergarten student through this link: Registration Be sure to select the registration for the 26-27 school year.
Earth Day
Look for a flyer and checklist in your child’s backpack today with information about Hurlbutt’s trash reduction efforts and our trash free snack day. We do recognize the irony of celebrating Earth day with a flyer but our young learners benefit from having a paper copy where they can check off their progress. We invite you to help them track their efforts in reducing trash at home and school. The following information is on the flyer and I am including it here for your convenience.
As a school, we’ve been working on sorting our trash to recycle and compost and help Planet Earth. Now we’re making it our mission to help reduce the amount of trash we make in another way!
We will be reviewing some simple ways that we can help the earth just by reducing how much garbage goes into our landfills.
On Wednesday April 22nd we will have a planned Trash Free Snack Day in which we work together to try to reduce trash from our snack time. Some ideas to help reduce trash when packing snack include:
|
Instead of…. |
Do this… |
|
bringing in a plastic water bottle |
refill a reusable water bottle |
|
individually packaged chips, |
refill reusable containers from big bags at home |
|
a single use spoons or forks |
use utensils that can go back home & be washed |
This is just the start! Every day can be a day we work to reduce the trash we make. Can we continue to make less trash during snack? What about during lunch time, in our classrooms and at home? We can do it together!
