Dear Families,
This week was our first full week of school and we filled the honeyhive! Our students are so proud of their accomplishment and we are proud of them too. Their stamina for learning is already growing tremendously. Many town after school programs are now in session as well. Please continue to check your dismissal plans daily in Dismissal Manager.
American Reading Company
Hurlbutt is in the second year of implementation of the American Reading Company (ARC) resource for our Language Arts Curriculum. This program is based in the science of reading and provides our teachers with a variety of tools to ensure that all of our students learn and grow as readers and writers. Please follow this hyperlink to read more about this important part of our school day. ARC letter
Dismissal Manager
The deadline for dismissal changes is 1:00 p.m. on a regular school day. On an early dismissal day the deadline is 10:00 a.m. for changes. If for some reason, your child’s after school program is canceled, you will need to change their plans in Dismissal Manager. The program does not automatically change for them. The after school programs are run by outside agencies.
Back to School Night
Second grade Back to School Night will be held on Wednesday, September 18 at 6:30 p.m. We hope you can join the teachers in their classrooms for this informative evening. This event is designed for adults only. Be sure to stop by the PTO table to learn about this amazing group of volunteers. Spiritwear will be for sale at the PTO table.
Demographic Update from Parent Portal
Check your email for the annual Demographic update for the parent portal of Power School from the Weston Public Schools. This is where you will update your information as well as annual permissions. Please complete this as soon as possible.

Family and Student Survey
Each year the Weston Schools administer a climate survey to students, families, and staff to provide us with essential feedback on the climate of our school and to ensure that our students feel physically, socially, and emotionally safe in our schools. This year we are transitioning to the Panorama Education platform for our staff and family surveys. Hurlbutt will still be using our existing climate survey for students in grades one and two. Our preschool and kindergarten students do not participate in the student survey. These surveys will be administered in the fall and spring and will help us gather feedback on the experiences and perceptions of our students, staff, and families. A letter will be sent to families on September 16 from Tracy Edwards our Director of Pupil Services which will include the link to the Family Survey.
Sincerely,
Laura Kaddis
Principal
