Dear Families,
We hope your children shared the exciting news that we filled the Honeyhive again! They are so proud of all the ways they demonstrate being safe, kind and responsible in our school. Our motto covers so many goals we have for our children. Many families have found it beneficial to use this language at home.
We appreciate all of your support of our Veterans Day recognition activities. Some of the Weston Girl Scouts from our school participated in the Town Hall ceremony. Most of our students wore red, white and blue last Monday to show their support. It has been heartwarming to see the children point out veterans they know on our display in the main hallways. We also saw adults finding their names and pointing them out during conference week. A special thanks to all the veterans in our community.
Dismissal
We know that some students from WIS walk to Hurlbutt to join their siblings for pick up. Those students can now pass through the North House playground path to wait at the front of our pick up circle. Students from WIS should not be walking through the bus loop at dismissal time. This confuses the bus loading process as older children weave through our bus lines confusing our youngest students.
Crayon Initiative
Thank you to our PTO and families who supported the PTO run Crayon Initiative. Many used and unwanted crayons were dropped off during conference week. The Crayon Initiative recycles millions of crayons that might otherwise end up in landfills. They are remanufactured and are sent to children in hospitals. What a wonderful way to give back and also reduce waste.
Parent Event
In the October district newsletter, Lisa Barbiero, our superintendent, highlighted an upcoming parent event this week on November 21, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. in the High School Auditorium. Join us for an evening with Max Stossel, an award-winning artist and the founder of Social Awakening, an organization dedicated to helping young people navigate and thrive in today’s digital landscape. Max will share essential insights into the influence of social media on our children and how we can support their social and emotional well-being in the modern world. This event aligns with our district’s commitment to fostering a supportive school climate and enhancing the social-emotional wellness of our students, families, and staff. We believe that a well-rounded academic experience includes equipping our students with tools for emotional resilience, and this presentation will offer valuable perspectives for parents and guardians. A special thank you to all of the Weston School PTOs for sponsoring this important event and making this opportunity possible for our community. Find out more at www.socialawakening.org
Sincerely,
Laura Kaddis
Principal
